Gov Obaseki committed to growth of MSMEs – Uanseru

Benin, Edo – The Edo state commissioner for Business, Trade, and Cooperatives, Patrick Uanseru, on Friday praised the turnout at the Edo Mega Trade Fair despite the downpour that hampered socio-economic activities across Benin City in recent days,
The commissioner, who spoke to journalists on the sideline of the ongoing Fair at the Garrick Memorial Field in the state capital, attributed the success recorded to the commitment of governor Godwin Òbaseki-led administration to boost the state's economy with support for MSMEs.
According to Uanseru, the trade fair was put together by the ministry, for business owners to market their products and services, adding, the Obaseki administration has created the enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
"The trade fair is a form of a close out event of the administration of governor Godwin Obaseki. He's very proactive in encouraging MSMEs. We felt this is the time to showcase some of these businesses.", Uanseru told journalists
The participants in their separate reactions commended the state government for the occasion, noting it availed them the opportunity to buy, sell and connect with people, even as they called for sustainability especially for residents to get goods and food items at cheaper rates.
The trade fair with the theme, “Promoting Trade, Creating Wealth Through Linkages,”, showcases a diverse range of products and sectors, including telecommunications, banking, insurance, ICT, agriculture and agro-allied, finance.
Also, included are; personal care and household products, textile, furniture, fashion, interior decorations, jewelry, clothing apparel, food and drinks, and pharmaceutical and health care, amongst others.
The fare, which started on Monday August 19th, is expected to end on Saturday August 24th.
