‎Benin, Edo – The Human Rights Freedom Global Network (HRFGN), a civil society organization focused on human rights advocacy, has issued a strong condemnation of the alleged brutal assault and inhumane treatment of a female employee by her employer, Adams Ehigiamusoe, popularly known as Shaba, in Edo State.

‎In a public statement and formal petition addressed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Edo State Command, HRFGN detailed the allegations, stating that the victim was physically assaulted and abused simply for requesting her outstanding salary ahead of the Yuletide celebrations.

‎The group described the incident as a "gross violation of human dignity, labour rights, and fundamental human rights" protected under Nigeria's 1999 Constitution (as amended) and international human rights treaties.

‎HRFGN highlighted what it called a "disturbing pattern of impunity, abuse of power, and violence against vulnerable workers, especially women," emphasizing that no employer has the right to resort to violence or humiliation over wage disputes.

‎The organization has called on the Nigeria Police Force in Edo State to launch an immediate, thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation. It also urged authorities to provide protection for the victim and ensure accountability, warning that "justice delayed is justice denied" and that acts of brutality should not be overlooked regardless of the alleged perpetrator's status.

‎Additionally, HRFGN appealed to civil society groups, women's rights organizations, and the public to rally in support of the victim and demand justice.

‎ The group pledged to closely monitor the case and pursue all legal options to secure accountability.

‎The petition was copied to several high-level officials, including the Edo State Commissioner of Police, the National Human Rights Commission, and the Inspector-General of Police in Abuja.

‎As of now, there has been no public response from the Edo State Police Command or the accused, Adams Ehigiamusoe (Shaba), a known political figure and former leader in drivers' associations in the state.

‎The allegations remain unverified by independent sources, and the police have been urged to investigate promptly.

‎HRFGN closed its statement with the slogans: "An injury to one is an injury to all. No Justice, No Peace."
