Awka, Anambra - In a significant step towards ensuring a peaceful and credible gubernatorial election, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has taken charge of the distribution and transportation of sensitive election materials in Anambra State.

Senior police officers, led by Commissioner of Police Abayomi Shogunle, who serves as the CP Election for the 2025 Anambra State Gubernatorial Election, were present at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) branch in Awka on Thursday to inspect materials and supervise security arrangements.

These materials are being prepared for transportation to various Local Government Headquarters across the state ahead of the election scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025.

The presence of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) underscores the force's commitment to maintaining order and safeguarding the electoral process.

This security operation comes as part of a broader strategy outlined by IGP Kayode Egbetokun to provide a secure environment for voters, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, election observers, and other stakeholders.

The NPF has deployed significant resources to counter any potential threats, drawing from past experiences where groups like the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) have attempted to disrupt elections with calls for boycotts or violence.
