Benin, Edo – The historic Benin Kingdom was aglow with festivities as His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II (CFR), celebrated his birthday alongside the ninth anniversary of his coronation.
The milestone, marked by vibrant ceremonies at the Royal Palace, drew heartfelt tributes from across Nigeria, with the Neo Black Movement of Africa (NBM of Africa) Worldwide leading the chorus of praise for the revered monarch.
In a statement Tuesday, signed by its National President Dr. Charles Chimezie (Ph.D), NBM of Africa extended profound felicitations to the Oba.
The organization lauded His Majesty’s reign as a beacon of "wisdom, peace, and cultural renaissance," noting its profound impact on illuminating the rich heritage of the Benin people and inspiring unity, progress, and dignity across Africa and beyond.
“As an Organization deeply rooted in African values and tradition, we celebrate your divine stewardship and pray that the ancestors continue to grant Your Majesty long life, sound health, and a prosperous reign upon the throne of your forefathers,” the statement read.
The NBM of Africa is a Pan-African socio-cultural organization dedicated to preserving African traditions, promoting social justice, and fostering global peace.
With over one million members worldwide, the group’s tribute underscores its deep ties to the Benin Kingdom and its alignment with the Oba’s vision of cultural revival and communal harmony.
Oba Ewuare II, who ascended the throne in October 2016 following the passing of his father, Oba Erediauwa, has become a global symbol of Benin’s enduring legacy.
His reign has been marked by efforts to repatriate looted Benin Bronzes, combat human trafficking, and promote inter-ethnic unity, earning him the prestigious Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) honor.
The celebrations, which included a grand feast on October 20, reflected the kingdom’s vibrant cultural tapestry.
The NBM’s message joins a wave of tributes from national leaders, including Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, who praised the Oba’s reign for fostering peace and development, and President Bola Tinubu, who highlighted His Majesty’s role as a moral and cultural compass.
The NBM’s heartfelt message, rooted in shared values of heritage and progress, reaffirms the monarch’s pivotal role in guiding the Benin Kingdom and inspiring a continent.
