Benin, Edo – The Federal Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has expressed deep concern over the deplorable state of federal roads in Edo State, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention.

Speaking in Benin recently, the Minister Umahi acknowledged the efforts of Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, in tackling the poor condition of federal roads.
"The state government, led by his Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, is currently building 23 kilometers of the Benin-Sapele Road," Umahi stated, highlighting a specific project as part of broader infrastructure improvements.
The minister's address comes in the wake of recent inspections of federal roads in Edo, where both Umahi and Governor Okpebholo expressed dissatisfaction with the existing conditions.
The duo's tour included assessments of the Ujuelen section on the Benin-Auchi-Lokoja Expressway and Egbele in Uromi, where they called for intensified efforts to alleviate the plight of road users. Umahi commended Okpebholo's interventions, urging further action to ensure timely project delivery.
Additionally, the Federal Government has approved the inclusion of Edo State in the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, a move that signifies a renewed focus on the region's connectivity.
