Edo Assembly clears nominees for key commissions

Benin, Edo – The Edo State House of Assembly, upon resuming plenary, cleared nominees for the Edo State Law Reforms Commission, Edo State Audit Service Commission, and one additional nominee for the Edo State Civil Service Commission.
The approvals followed the presentation and consideration of screening reports by the House Committee on Rules, Business, and Government House.
The nominees, thoroughly vetted at the Committee of the Whole, include Barr. Donald Osikhena Boih as Chairman of the Law Reforms Commission, alongside its members, Mr. Odion John as Chairman of the Audit Service Commission with its members, and Barr. Godson as an additional member of the Edo State Civil Service Commission.
In another development, the House received a petition addressing the malicious destruction of farm products in Utekon Community, Ovia North East Local Government Area.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chief Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku, referred the petition to the Committee on Public Petitions, tasking them to report back within two weeks.
Rt. Hon. Agbebaku also urged members to finalize all pending committee assignments for presentation and consideration on the House floor.
The plenary session concluded with the House adjourning to Tuesday, September 16, 2025, following a motion moved by Hon. Kaycee Osawonyi (Uhunmwode Constituency) and seconded by Hon. Gani Akokhia (Etsako West II Constituency).
The Assembly’s actions reflect its commitment to strengthening state institutions and addressing constituent concerns promptly.
