PHOTO Inside Edo Edo Assembly confirms four out of five Commissioner-designates

Benin, Edo – The Edo State House of Assembly on Wednesday confirmed 4 additional nominees as commissioner-designates into the state executive council.

The four commissioner-designates are: Barr. Vincent Osas Uwadia, Etin-osa Ogbeiwi, Saturday Uwuilekhue Idehen (JP), Charity Amayaenvbo.

The confirmation was sequel to the consideration of the report of the House committee on Rules, Business and Government House on the screening of the 4 nominees presented by the chairman and Majority Leader of the House, Hon.Jonathan Ibhamawu.

Gov.Monday Okpebholo had earlier in a letter dated August 20th, requested the state assembly to screen and confirm 5 nominees as commissioners in the state.

The House during plenary adopted the 1-point recommendation of the report of the committee on Rules, Business, and Government House that the 4 nominees be confirmed as commissioners after their successful screening which found them educationally fit and proper to serve in the state.

Meanwhile, the 5th nominee, Prof.Roland Otaru (SAN) was unavoidably absent for confirmation.

The house, after deliberation on the report of the Committee on the screening of the 4 nominees, cleared and confirmed all 4 nominees.

In another development, two bills scaled second reading on the floor of the House.

The bill for a law to protect government property and establish the Edo State Protection Committee was referred to the House Committee on Security for further input with a mandate to submit its report within 3 weeks .

Also, a bill seeking to amend the law to provide for the order of precedence was referred to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges and its report to be submitted within 3 weeks for consideration.
