Warri, Delta – The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Professor Ezekiel Agbalagba, has called on the Federal Government to fully implement the FUPRE Establishment Act of 2017 to enable the institution fulfill its national mandate as Africa’s first petroleum university.

Speaking at a media briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Effurun, Agbalagba decried the non-release of statutory funds from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, PTDF, and NCDMB as provided in the Act.

He said the lack of adequate funding had hampered FUPRE’s infrastructure, staffing, and research efforts.

“Our facilities are overstretched. We urgently need the implementation of the Act to attract top talent and deliver world-class petroleum education,” he said.
