Jattu, Edo – A night fire has razed down popular Jattu Community market in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, leaving business owners in unimaginable grief.

The incident happened barely six months after over 100-year-old trees, succumbed to a windstorm and crushed four traders to death after early heavy downpour at the market.

The raging night fire occured at about 8p.m on Tuesday, destroyed stock worth millions of Naira and burnt shops and stalls at the market.

The cause of Tuesday’s fire that raged for several minutes, has yet to be ascertained.

Besides, fire fighters were yet to arrive the market as at the time of filing this report.

Some traders who made a detour after the disaster, wept profusely over the losses they have incurred.

TheNewspad reports that Jattu residents could not salvage much property from the wreckage blaze that swept through the marketplace.

Recall that the Local Government authority took steps to trace relatives of the victims and carried out remedial work and provided livelihood support packages for those who suffered losses during the previous disaster.

Meanwhile, former deputy governor of the state, Philip Shaibu has sympathized with victims of the inferno, urging well-meaning Nigerians to support them with relief.

"My heart is heavy as I join the people of Jattu-Uzairue Kingdom and the entire Etsako West Local Government Area to grief over the devastating fire that ravaged the Jattu Community Market on Tuesday. This tragic incident, coming so soon after the windstorm that claimed lives and uprooted our century-old trees, has left our community in deep grief.

"To our traders who have lost their livelihoods and properties, I extend my deepest sympathies. Your pain is unimaginable, and your resilience in the face of this repeated tragedy is truly inspiring.

"As one of your own, I feel your sorrow deeply, and I am committed to standing with you in this difficult time. This is not just a loss for the affected traders but for the entire Jattu-Uzairue Kingdom. Our market is not just a place of business—it is a symbol of our unity, hard work, and heritage.", Shaibu expressed in a post on social media
