Benin, Edo – No fewer than 200 persons living with disabilities in Edo state has benefitted from the Network for the Advancement of People with Visible Disabilities (NAPVID) annual Christmas palliatives.

The palliatives disbursement which took place on December 16th and 18th, in the state capital was expanded from the 150 in 2023, to 200 beneficiaries this year 2024.

The beneficiaries, drawn from various disability cluster groups, each received 10kg bag of rice, 3 liters of groundnut oil, sachets of tomato paste, and seasoning cubes, as well as transportation allowance.

According to the executive director of NAPVID, Melody Omosah Esq, the palliatives gesture was to cushion the effects of economic hardship faced by People With Disabilities (PWDs) in the state.

Omosah expressed hope that in 2025, the network will accommodate more PWDs from across the 18 local government areas of the state.

Heads of the various cluster groups however expressed gratitude to NAPVID for the palliative initiative, which they noted was a significant relief for PWDs.
