Hon Charity Aiguobarueghian is a People's Democratic Party (PDP) member at the Edo state house of assembly and occupies the exalted seat of majority leader. So, without doubt, he is the No. 3 man in the house.

Every saturday, baring a busy schedule, he is live on Rythmn Radio, Benin talking about the PDP's development effort in Edo State. In a one-sided defensive manner.

Once again, the lawmaker was at the radio station. This time around, he was very combative in presenting the PDP administration of Obaseki as a huge success.

Let me now discuss his presentations and my criticisms of them so as to expose their hollowness.

To begin with, he makes much fuss about Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate, having a written manifesto unlike the APC candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo.

Well, he is mistaken Okpebholo has a written manifesto anchored on social welfarism that is based on the grassroot needs assessment of Edo people duly generated by the party. In contrast, what the PDP has is Obaseki's euro-americacentric manifesto handed down to godson Asue Ighodalo with some modifications.

Invariably, Okpebholo has a manifesto that has more legality, constitutionality and legitimacy than thàt of Asue Ighodalo.

Now, let us assume that Okpebholo has an unwritten manifesto. Does the constitution, our grundnorm forbid the practice? Or does our jurisprudence not recognise it as a gentleman's agreement enforceable in law court of competent jurisdiction? See, written or unwritten, a manifesto can be captured on audio or video tapes in our civilised; digital world for use in assessing conduct in office.

Even the Great Britain no get written constitution. Dem don die, bros? No!

In reaction to a phone-in comment, Hon. Charity observed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is solely responsible for the poverty; hunger, food insecurity, economic hardship and tension in Edo and Nigeria at large. No amount of opposing view made him to change his stand.

Unknown to him, what some opponents with contrary opinion were attempting to do is to save him from his logical fallacy. Because in the humanities and social science, multidimensional causative factors are said to be responsible for an event, not just one. Therefore, Hon Charity is guilty of logical reductionism to claim that only Tinubu is the cause of our current problems.

Honourable, be informed that in our federation economics, byou have a macro/federal economy controlled by Abuja policies; as well as a micro/state economies under the strict management of each of the 36 states of the federation.

Did the PDP under Obaseki manage our own state economy well to reduce hunger, poverty, food insecurity, economic hardship and a maddening sense of hopelessness in Edo State? Certainly, no.

Here are a few of the reasons. Firstly, the PDP administration under Obaseki is unable to provide cheap pubic transportation lower than the national average.

He had the opportunity to do so when the boss of Innoson Motors came all the way from the South-East to Benin to open talks on the establishment of a CNG auto industry in Benin City, the capital of Edo state. But our governor frustrated him out of the deal. Had it succeeded, Edo State would today have been a CNG Bus Hub in Nigeria. So, the buses will be in adequate supply to operate a cheaper transport scheme now that the cost of fuel is astronomical.

Also, because Edo State is an auto hub for CNG buses, hundreds of Edo indigenous technical manpower in CNG technology servicing, maintaining and repairing the cheaper CNG buses in demand these days.

Sadly enough, this is not the case because the PDP government of Obaseki is not only lacking visionary leadership, it is deficient in entrepreneurial wisdom of encouraging private investment.

Once again in second tenure, Edo PDP administration on its part, mooted the idea to" fashion out a strategy for a sustainable auto industry in Edo within 9 days." (Vanguard January 18, 2020).

Towards his end, a 7-man automobile technical committee was set up in 2020. Nothing achieved till date.

What is more? No serious effort was made to revive the state-owned moribond Edo Line transport company while the ECTS public transport company is in shambles.

Given all these developments, transport fared are very high. Who is to blame? The PDP administration of Obaseki Not the government of Tinubu.
